Men’s Golf Places Seventh Following Day One Action of Rhode Island College Invitational

WARWICK, R.I. – Elms College junior Nick Smith (Enfield, Conn.) shot a team-best 81 and tied for 13th overall as the Blazers scored 339 as a team to finish seventh following day one action of the Rhode Island College Invitational on Friday afternoon held at Valley Country Club in Warwick, R.I.

Endicott College leads the field of 17 teams with an overall score of 318 followed by Rhode Island with 320. UMass-Dartmouth and Husson University tied for third with 322 overall.

Bill Hutchins of Husson led the field of 83 golfers with a low round of 75. Endicott's Jack Carroll carded a day one round of 77 to finish second overall.

Smith turned in a team-low score of 81, followed by senior Tyler Cudnik (Hampden, Mass.) who notched a round of 83. Freshman Chris Miele (South Hadley, Mass.) and senior Henry Fall (Harpswell, Maine) contributed rounds of 87 and 88, while sophomore Dan Olive (Jefferson Township, N.J.) carded a round of 95.

Elms returns to Rhode Island College Invitational action on Saturday, April 5.
