Men’s Golf Places Eighth at Duke Nelson Invitational

MIDDLEBURY, Vt. – Elms College senior Henry Fall (Harpswell, Maine) shot a 70 and the Blazers notched a team score of 305 to help secure a total score of 616 and finish eighth in the 30th Duke Nelson Invitational hosted by Middlebury College on Sunday afternoon.

Middlebury won the overall team event with a two-day score 596 led by individual medalist Rob Donahoe who shot 68 and 71 (139). Clarkson University (597), Williams College (599), Salem State University (602) and Hamilton College (603) rounded out the top five teams in the field of 22 squads.

Fall led the Blazers to a second day score of 305 and tied for the low round of the day with a score of 70 and finished tied for fourth overall with a combined score of 145.

Senior Tyler Cudnik (Hampden, Mass.) and junior Nick Smith (Enfield, Conn.) finished within one stroke of each other with respective scores of 76 and 77, while freshmen Brian Benson (Agawam, Mass.) and Chris Miele (South Hadley, Mass.) registered rounds of 82 and 83.

Elms finished ahead of both Babson College (18th/643) and Springfield College (19th/649) – both associate members of the New England Collegiate Conference.

Elms returns to action at the Williams College invitational on Saturday and Sunday, September 21-22 with play set to begin at 8:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m.
