Men’s Golf Wins 2013 Blazer Fall Invitational

GRANBY, Mass. – The Elms College men's golf team shot a combined score of 310 on the strength of three players shooting 77 in Wednesday's Blazer Fall Invitational at Westover Golf Course in Granby, Mass.

Elms led the field of 16 teams with team-low score of 310, followed by Castleton State College (315), Rhode Island College (319), Worcester State University (327), the Sage Colleges (328), Newbury College (330), Westfield State University (332), MCLA (338), Franklin Pierce University (342), Nichols College (349), Daniel Webster College and Becker College (350), Emmanuel College (363), Mitchell College (367), Johnson State College (370), and Anna Maria College (402).

Castleton State's Zachary Temple won individual medalist honors with a round of 75 (37-38) while Elms' seniors Henry Fall (Harpswell, Maine) and Tyler Cudnik (Hampden, Mass.), freshman Chris Miele (South Hadley, Mass.), Sage's Zach Sullivan and Westfield States' Patrick O'Neil each shot 77 to finish in a tie for second place overall.

Blazers' junior Nick Smith (Enfield, Conn.) was two strokes behind at 79, while freshman Brian Benson (Agawam, Mass.) carded an 81.

Sophomore Dan Olive (Jefferson Township, N.J.) notched an 80, junior Alison Cowles (East Longmeadow, Mass.) turned in a score of 87 and freshman Ryan Finneral (Tewksbury, Mass.) shot a 93 to round out Elms' participating golfers.

Elms is in action again on Saturday and Sunday, October 5-6 at the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Championship hosted by Newbury College.
