Elms Baseball Sweep Bulldogs in Conference Doubleheader

PAXTON, MA - The Elms College Baseball team secure the Conference Doubleheader victory after a tremendous four run inning in game one. Blazers win 7-3 in game one and 6-0 in game two.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Blazers recorded a 7-3 win in game one over the Dean College Bulldogs after battling for 8 innings. 

Henry Rondon (Ansonia, CT) Started the afternoon on the hill for the Lightning throwing for 6 innings recording 2 strikeouts, 3 runs, and 9 hits. Camden Murphy (Berlin, CT) would relieve the sophomore from the mound for the final two innings receiving the save for the Blazers.

The Blazers built a 2-1 lead over the Bulldogs after sending a run home in the first inning after Tyler Galenski (Wilbraham, MA) flew out to right field for a sacrifice fly to send home George Chaya (Methuen, MA) home for an unearned run.

Aaron Young would send the ball out to center field for a double advancing Aj Cook (Mendon, MA) to home for the Blazers second run of the game in the top of the third inning. In the Bottom of the third the Bulldogs were able to advance runners to second and third with only one out recorded. J. Paschetto flew out to left field for a sacrifice fly advancing the runners by a base recording their first run of the game. At the end of the third inning the Blazers are up 2-1.

The Bulldogs would score in the bottom of the fourth after a single by T. Giambra sent home A. Sullivan to tie the game 2-2.

In the fifth inning both teams sent home a run each keeping the score tied now at 3's.

To finish out the game and secure the victory, the Blazers recorded a powerful inning in the top of the eighth sending home four runs. With an RBI from Justin Miller to get the momentum going for the Blazers, sending home Austin Roy (Cromwell, CT) and advancing Josh Nohilly (Bristol, CT) to second. With smart base running both Miller and Nohilly advanced to third and second for optimal scoring positions off of a wild pitch.  Seamus Higgins (Rutland, MA) stepped up to the plate smacking the ball to left field for a single, advancing to second to send home both baserunners for a two RBI. Using his speed the centerfielder for the Blazers stole third, and managed to touch home plate for the fourth run of the inning off of an error on the Bulldogs pitcher. 

The Bulldogs were unable to respond back in the bottom of the eighth granting the game one win to the Blazers in extra innings.

HOW IT HAPPENED

In game two of the conference doubleheader Austin Roy took to the hill for the Blazers. The senior threw for the full 7 innings recording 2 strikeouts and only allowing 3 hits.

The Blazers scored runs in the second, third, sixth and 7th innings. With doubles from Tyler Galenski, Josh Nohilly, and Justin Miller. All three of the batters, including Chase Prestia recorded RBI's in game two.

The Elms College Baseball team finished the second game recording 10 hits and 5 runs, with 4 RBI's sprinkled across the lineup winning the game 6-0 for the final. The Blazers also recorded 1 stolen base and 1 error to finish out the day.

Blazers are back at Mackenzie Stadium on Monday, April 24th at 2:30PM and 4:30PM where they will host the Lasell University Lasers for a conference doubleheader .
