Baseball Splits Conference Double Header with Monks

STANDISH, ME- The Elms College Baseball team finished the day 1-1 against the Saint Joseph's College of Maine Monks Saturday afternoon.

Records: Monks (11-16, 5-4) | Blazers (16-6, 6-3)

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Elms Men battled against the Monks for 7 innings where they held a lead of 8 to 3 heading into the bottom of the seventh. The Saint Joseph's College of Maine nine did not let up in their final at bat when J. Dube cleared the bases with a 3 run homer with one out left in the game. The Blazers were baleto clinch the final out before anymore Monks could sneak in another run.

The Blazers had a remarkable top of the sixth with a two RBI homer from Justin Miller (Prospect, CT) to rally up the lightning. After a full bat around the Blazers were able to record 6 hits and 6 runs in the inning. With RBI's from Miller, George Chaya (), Tyler Galenski (Wilbraham, MA), and Austin Roy (Cromwell, CT).

Henry Rondon (Ansonia, CT) was on the hill for the Blazers for 6 and two third innings where he let up ten hits and seven runs while striking out five Monks.  Camden Murphy (Berlin, CT) would take his spot on the mound to finish out the final third of an inning. 

The Blazers would squeak passed with the win against the Monks in game one of the conference double header.

HOW IT HAPPENED

In the third inning of game two the /blazers were able to record a three run inning with an RBI from Chaya, Galenski and Young. With the score 3-1 heading into the bottom of the third the Monks were able to tie up the runs after a two run inning due to 2 fielding errors by the Blazers.

First basemen Josh Nohilly (Bristol, CT) sent the ball deep into left field recording a double and an RBI in the sixth inning. (4-3 Blazers) 

The Monks were playing the ball smart and finding the gaps in the field to manage 7 hits and 6 runs in the bottom of the sixth inning. With five batters recording an RBI, including T. Morrissey and D.Gundlah with 2 RBI a piece in just this inning alone.

Unable to recover from the Monks power inning the Blazers fell 9-4 in game two of the conference double header ending the day 1-1 against the Saint Joseph's College of Maine Monks.
