Baseball Sweep Conference Double Header Against Cadets

CHICOPEE, MA - The Elms Baseball Team went 2-0 on the day against the Norwich University Cadets. The Blazers won game one 6-1, followed by a 9-2 win for game two.

HOW IT HAPPENED

 
Elms College knocked in three uns in the bottom of the sixth on its way to a 6-1 victory over Norwich University Cadets on Saturday.  Austin Roy (Cromwell, CT) powered the big inning with an RBI to start it off early. Due to errors throughtout the bottom of the sixth the Blazers were able to run the bases well and succesfully get two players home in different plays. 
 
In the bottom of the first inning, Elms College snagged a 2-0 run lead. The Blazers scored off of a double from Tyler Galenski (Wilbraham, MA) sending home the first run, followed by a RBI sent to center field by Roy to chalk up the second run. 
 
Henry Rondon (Ansonia, CT) led things off on the mound for Elms College. The righty allowed tsix hits and one run over seven innings, striking out five.
 
M. Ingraffia started on the hill for the Cadets. The pitcher allowed six hits and five runs over 5 and two-thirds innings, striking out seven.  B. Emero threw the final one-third inning for Norwich.
 
Elms College scattered 7 hits in the game.  Galenski and Roy both managed doubles and RBI's against the Cadets, with Seamus Higgins (Rutland, MA) cracking the only triple of the game.  Elms College committed only one error in the field.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Josh Guilmartin (Granby, CT) started on the mound for the Blazers throwing for four innings allowing six hits and only two runs with three strikouts. Kyle Sebastyanski (Auburn, MA) stepped on the hill for the final five innings letting up only three hits, no runs and two strikouts against the Cadets.

Elms landed 12 hits in the game, with three from George Chaya (Methuen, MA) for a 9-2 win over the Norwich Cadets. Galenski recorded a 3 RBI game with two RBI from both CJ Moriarty (Glastonbury, CT) and Chaya.

AJ Cook (Mendon, MA) stole two of the five stolen bases in game two against the Cadets. Chaya, Justin Miller (Prospect, CT) and Higgins recoridng a steal each.

The Blazers opened up with a two run first inning and a one run second inning to grow a lead of 3-1 early over the Cadets. 

In the top of the fourth Norwich was able to knock four hits sending home 2 runs, getting themselves on the board. The Blazers would imediatly respond with a quick 3 run inning off of two hits to secure their lead over the Cadets.

Elms college only committed one error in the top of the sixth inning.

UP NEXT

Wednesday, April 12th the Blazers will host the Western New England Bears at Mackenzie Stadium for a 7PM game. The non-conference game will be a black out game with raffles and prices for Division 3 week.
