Men's Basketball Finish Their Season in Monk Country

STANDISH, ME - The Elms College Men's Basketball team traveled to the Saint Joseph's College of Maine Monks home to finish out their season, 80-60 for the final.

How it Happened

Grad student Tahquell Cadle (Bridgeport, CT) finished the game filling the whole stat sheet putting up 17 points, recording 8 rebounds, handing out 8 assists and adding 3 steals. Teron Griffon (Harlem, NY) was the second lead scorer for the Blazers cashing in 12 points and recording 10 boards for a double double on Saturday afternoon against the Saint Joseph's College of Maine Monks.

The Blazers went 12-33 from the field putting up 29 points in the first half. The Monks who had a similar field goal percentage, went 13-34 from the field but hit ten of the total feild goals from beyond the arch to build a lead of 38-29 heading into the half. The Monks snatched one more rebound than the Blazers recording 20 in the half while the Lightning attained 19. The Elms men were able to control the game in steals, recording 8 in the first twenty minutes of play while the Saint Joseph Monks fell short with only 3. 

In the second half the Blazers were able to dominate in the paint registering 22 boards, 13 of them on their defensive end denying the Monks any opportunity for second chance points. The Blazers were unable to outscore the Saint Joseph's Monks cashing in only 31 points, while the Monks kissed in 42 for the half. Due to the Monks success rate from beyond the arch the Blazers were unable to match their points and fell behind in the conference play. The Blazers finished out the game falling 80-60 on Saturday afternoon to the Saint Joseph's College of Maine Monks.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS

The Elms College Men's Basketball team ended their 2022-23 season with an overall record of 3-22, and a conference record of 2-16. The Men will not be participating in this years Great Northeast Athletic Conference Men's Tournament.
