CHICOPEE, MA- The Men's Basketball team was unable to stop the Bulldogs as they fell 90-79 in the conference match up on Saturday in Picknelly Arena.

How it Happened

The Blazers were able to hold onto the lead heading into the half after securing four three pointers and knocking down fourteen field goals to give them the upperhand. The Bulldogs were able to keep the game a close scoring match by sshooting 81.8% (9-11) from the free throw line and cash in twelve points from the field. The Bulldogs also out rebounded the Blazers 18-17, with 14 on their defensive end whereas the Blazers only secured 11 defensive boards. Klaytin Silva (Worcester, MA) added four points, handed out two blocks and registered two boards in the first half. The Blazer led by two heading into the half, 35-33.

The Blazers held onto the lead till eight minutes were left in the game when the Bulldogs Jayden Madise hit two free throws to snatch the lead over the Lightning by one (59-58). The Blazers continued to fight for the lead back but were unable to slow down Deans offense causing them to fall behind. With seven minutes left in the game the Bulldogs went on a run of 13-1 over the Blazers to give themselves a generous lead in the final minutes. The Blazers were running out of time and caused dean to go to the line three times at an attempt to slow down the game and regain control on offense. Despite Elms' fight to close the gap they were unable to and fell to the Bulldogs, 90-79.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS

  • Both Tahquell Cadle (Bridgeport, CT) and Jake Midura (Chicopee, MA) put up 11 points for the Blazers
  • Cadle recorded 9 boards, handed out 6 assists and recorded 3 steals
  • RJ Mayfield (Springfield, MA) and Dominique Threatt (Birmingham, AL) both secured 8 points
  • The Team shot 15-25 from the foul line recording a 60%
