Men's Basketball Secure Conference Win Over AMCATS

CHICOPEE, MA- Juan Macklin (Sayerville, NJ) put up 17 points to help the Blazers triumph over the the visiting Anna Maria AMCATS on Tuesday night, 72-50 for the final.

How It Happened

The Blazers were lights out from the free throw line in the first half with Tahquell Cadle (Bridgeport, CT) going 6-6 and Macklin also going 1-1 from the line. Both teams attempted ten shots from outside the arc, but the Blazers were able to cash in three of them over the AMCATS single three pointer. Elms held the lead for almost the full first half with the score 32-27 after a final cashed in 3Pt shot by Trey Sabia (West Simsbury, CT) with just over 3 minutes left to go. With the final half minutes a two possesion game the AMCATS were able to control the speed of play and with two jumpshots, a couple steals and a made layup to take the lead by one over the Blazers heading into the half, 33-32.

The Blazers entered into the second half going on a 13-0 point run causeing the AMCATS to call for a 30 second timeout five minutes into the second. The Blazers became unstoppable in the second half putting up 40 points in the second half with 11 of them from forward Klaytin Silva (Worcester, MA) who also late in the game cashed in a three pointer. Not only on the offensive end did the Blazers control the game as they also recorded 24 of their 28 rebounds on their defensive end denying the AMCATS second chance opportunities. The Blazers secured their first conference win by taking down the AMCATs 72-52 on Tesday night in Picknelly Arena.
