DANBURY, CT - The Western Connecticut state University Wolves defeat the Blazers Saturday afternoon in Feldman Arena, 95-63. Elms now stands with a record of 1-4 in their season.

How it Happened

 

The Blazers kept up with the WestConn Wolves in the start of the game, never letting the Wolves gain too much of a lead. Jake Midura (Chicopee, MA) opened up the game with a made three to put the Blazers on the board. Midura kept firing up from outside the arc having 12 of the 18 points for Elms, snatching the lead for the Blazers 18-16 with thirteen minutes left in the half. WestConn built up a tremendous lead after going on a 24-4 point run raising the score 40-22 with six minutes left in the half. The Blazers ended the first half with a 31.3% FG percentage and 40 % from the line, where as the Wolves found their rythm and shot a 56.8% FG percentage and 71.4% from the line helping boost their lead to 56-29 heading into the half.

For the rest of the contest the Wolves capitalized on getting boards and finishing strong from the foul line. WestConn would attain 21 rebounds in the second, 14 defensively and 7 offensive boards adding a total of 49 rebounds in the game. The Wolves went 22-29 from the line rewarding them 22 free points against the Blazers, with 12 of them from the second half alone. The Blazers wet 10-17 from the foul line and recorded 34 rebounds in the whole game. despite the hard battle from the Elms Men they were unable to keep up with the Western Connecticut Wolves and fell to a final of 95-63.
