Blazers Battle Till Last Second Against Cadets

CHICOPEE, MA - The Men fall short in final minutes against conference team the Norwich University Cadets on Thursday night in Picknelly Arena, 77-65.

How it Happened

The Cadets gaurd Kohlby Murray set the tone for the first half of the game by pulling up from beyond the arc to cash in a three just seconds into the game. With the Cadets offensive push the Blazers fell behind unable to get points on the board. Trey Sabia (West Simsbury, CT) was able to hit two three's for for the Blazers to keep them in the game. Post graduate Tahquell Cadle recorded three boards and put up five points for the Lightning, along with RJ Mayfield (Springfield, MA) recording three boards as well. As a team the Blazers registered 18 boards and 5 steals to help them stay in the game against the Cadets. Heading into the half Norwich led, 35-19.

Dominique Threatt (Birmingham, AL) entered the game in the second half and helped changed the tempo up for the Blazers. Threatt put up 16 points in the second half along with the help from Cadle adding 10 the Blazers made their comeback. The Lightning were able to record 20 rebounds in the second half 15 of them on the defensive end, where as the Cadets only were able to collect 14 in the half. With 4 minutes left in the game the Blazers closed the gap making it under a ten point game (62-55), but were unable to grab the lead. After a hard fought second half the Blazers went on to shoot a 3pt percentage of 66.7% and outscoring the Cadets 46-42 in the in the final 20 minutes. The Cadets would win, 77-65.

  • Dominique Threatt put up 18 points, 4 rebounds, 2 assists, and 1 steal.
  • Trey Sabia went 3-5 from the three (11 pts) 4 boards, 2 assists and 1 steal.

  • As a team the Blazers shot 53.8% (7-13) from the the arc.
