Men's Basketball Drops Conference Match to Lasers

CHICOPEE, MA - The Men come up short in final minutes on Tuesday night in Picknelly Arena against the Lasell University Lasers, 67-60 for the final.

How it Happened

The Blazers and Lasers kicked off the night tying up the game seven different times with a lead change of 8 times in just the frst 20 minutes of play. Elms shot 32.1% from the field with a 100% free throw percentage knocking down 4-4. Lasell also had a slow first half only shooting 29.4% from the field but went 10-10 from the free throw cashing in 10 free points. The Blazers werent having much success on the arc only securing one 3Pt-shot early in the game by Tahquell Cadle (Bridgeport, CT) out of the six total attempts by the Lightning. With 2 minutes left in the first half the Lasers were able to tie the game up one last time at 23-23, then they pulled away with a lead of nine points to end the half 32-23. 

Lasell was able to hold  asteady lead over the Blazers for majority of the second half. In the last six minutes of the game the Blazers were able to close in on the Lasers lead turning the game into a 5 point game, 56-51 after a made three by Neilon Bridgeman (Brooklyn, NY). After a 6-4 point run by the Blazers the game was now down to a possesion game with the Lightning trailing by 3 points with 2 minutes and 40 seconds left in the game. Lasells Conan Mccusker was able turn a steal into a quick transition layup with just over a minute left (62-57), but with a quick response from Tahquell Cadle who knocked down a three pointer to keep it a one possesion game (62-60). With just a minute left in the game the Lasers were able to capitalize off of mishaps on the Blazers end and turned a two point game into a seven point game to end with the Lasers securing the Conference win, 67-66.

• RJ Mayfield (Springfield, MA) registered 10 points with 7 boards with 4 blocks against the Lasers.
• Jaijuan Macklin (Sayerville, NJ) went 6-7 from the foul line with 10 total points, 3 rebounds, 2 assists and 3 blocks.
• Tahquell Cadle went 3-3 from beyond the arc recording 16 points agaisnt the Lasers
