Men’s Volleyball Falls At Lesley, 3-0

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Elms College freshman
outside hitter Stephen Cameron (Newington, Conn.)
smashed 11 kills and added four service aces, but Lesley University
was able to hold on for a 3-0 (13-30, 30-32, 30-32) sweep in
Tuesday evening’s North East Collegiate Volleyball
Association (NECVA) New England Division and New England Collegiate
Conference (NECC) men’s volleyball match.
With the loss, Elms falls to 3-8 on the season, 3-4 NECVA, 2-2
NECC. Lesley improves to 2-5 overall, 2-3 NECVA, 2-2 NECC.
Cameron hit .381 for the match, downing his 11 kills on 21 swings
with just three errors. Sophomore opposite hitter Mike
Kleckner (Bethlehem, Pa.) hit at a .261 clip, notching 10
kills on 23 attempts with four errors.
Sophomore setter Mike Martin (Enfield, Conn.)
handed out a match-best 32 assists and added four digs in the
losing effort.
Sophomore outside hitter Yonalvy Acosta (Holyoke,
Mass.) added 10 kills and totaled seven digs, while
sophomore outside hitter Juan Carolos Salmeron
(Springfield, Mass.) dug seven balls. Acosta also
contributed three solo blocks and assisted on another.
The Lynx were led by Scott Wheeler (East Hampton,
Conn.) who terminated 11 balls, and Nick Assad
(Andover, Mass.) who registered 10 kills. Stephen
Siragusa (Valley Stream, N.Y.) guided the Lesley offensive
attack with 28 assists.
Matt Sullivan (Worcester, Mass.) sparked the
defensive effort with a match-high nine digs, while Assad and
Wheeler added eight and seven digs respectively.
The Lynx forced the Blazers into 34 hitting errors, and served up
12 aces, including four from Mike Jack (Buenos Aires,
Argentina).
Elms returns to conference action against Lesley on Saturday, Feb.
13. The Blazers will host the Lynx at 7:00 p.m. at Picknelly Arena.
