Men’s Volleyball Selected Second In NECC Preseason Poll

ATTLEBORO, Mass. – The Elms College men’s volleyball team was selected second in the 2010 New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) preseason poll as announced by the league office on Monday.

Elms received 38 total votes. Newbury College received all five first place votes and 50 total votes and was tabbed as the preseason favorite.

Voting for the preseason poll was conducted among the NECC's head men’s volleyball coaches.

The Blazers will open the 2010 season on Saturday, Jan. 16. Elms will host Wentworth Institute of Technology and Southern Vermont in a tri-match starting at 12:00 p.m. at Picknelly Arena.

Last season, the Blazers had a record-setting year, as the team won a school-record 20 matches; won the inaugural NECC championship; captured the school's first-ever Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) championship in any sport, and earned, for the second consecutive year, a berth in the North East Collegiate Volleyball Association (NECVA) Tournament.

Here is how the rest of the poll was voted upon.
