Three Players Named All-NECC in Field Hockey
ATTLEBORO, Mass. – The Elms College field hockey team had three players named All-New England Collegiate Conference (NECC), including senior Alexandra Bonavita (Agawam, Mass.) who was named NECC Goalkeeper of the Year for the second straight time and was also a first team all-conference selection.
For the second consecutive season, Bonavita was honored as the league's top goalkeeper. Bonavita allowed only six goals in six conference games recording 40 saves for a save percentage of .870 and a slim 1.00 goals against average. Bonavita, who was also named First Team All-NECC for the third straight season, is the program's all-time saves leader after finishing her career with 784 stops.
Elms also had a pair of sophomore defenders garner Honorable Mention All-NECC honors. Allie LaMonica (Salem, Mass.) and Ashley Reid (Enfield, Conn.) were each selected for their stellar contributions in the defensive backfield.
LaMonica and Reid each tallied two defensive saves against conference competition, helping the Blazers post their best-ever NECC mark (5-1) and best overall record (8-12) since the 1994 season. The pair also combined for five shots during league action and LaMonica finished the season with a goal and two assists, while Reid chipped in three assists.
