Field Hockey Team Donates Fleece Blankets to Troops in Afghanistan

CHICOPEE, Mass. – The Elms College field hockey team helped show its support for troops in Afghanistan by donating several fleece tie blankets.

Keep a Marine Warm is a no-sew fleece blanket drive to keep marines warm while serving overseas. The goal is to collect 280 blankets and ship between October 24-26, 2012, just in time for the cold weather.

The Blazers’ field hockey team got involved with the project through former standout athlete Jennifer Killion ’12 – a multi-sport athlete in soccer and softball. With the help of the Elms field hockey team, the cause has exceeded its goal of 280 blankets and as of Monday, has amassed 295 fleece blankets to send to Afghanistan.
