Four-Goal Second Half Lifts Field Hockey Over Rivier College, 6-2

NASHUA, N.H. – Elms College senior goalkeeper Alexandra Bonavita (Agawam, Mass.) made eight saves and six different Blazers recorded goals to help cap a 6-2 victory over Rivier College in Saturday afternoon's non-conference field hockey game at Raider Field in Nashua, N.H.

Elms earns its first win of the 2012 season to improve to 1-2 overall, while Rivier slips to 1-3 on the season.

Elms' sophomore forward Kayla Narey (South Hadley, Mass.) put the Blazers ahead early when she scored at the 11:28 mark.

Rivier's Kate Adinolfo (Manchester, N.H.) answered with a strike 11 minutes later, before Blazers' sophomore forward Tatiana Frizzell (Brattleboro, Mass.) found the back of the cage 15 seconds before intermission to give Elms a 2-1 lead at the break.

Elms pulled away early in the second frame as freshman forward Kristina Kopyscinski (Agawam, Mass.), sophomore defender Allie LaMonica (Salem, Mass.), sophomore forward Meghan Goodrow (Sunderland, Mass.) and junior midfielder Brianna Lyons (Canton, Mass.) each scored to give the Blazers a commanding 6-1 advantage. Kopyscinski's and LaMonica's strikes were the first of their respective collegiate careers.

Kristen Tyler (Thornton, N.H.) capped the scoring with the Raiders' lone goal of the second half in the 69th minute of action.

Elms outshot Rivier 22-15, while each side recorded 10 penalty corners.

Elms travels to Smith College on Tuesday, Sept. 11 for a non-conference tilt at 4:30 p.m.
