Four Players Earn NECC Weekly Accolades

ATTLEBORO, Mass. – Elms College had four players garner New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) weekly accolades as announced by the league office on Monday.

Elms’ sophomore Rachel Lehouillier (Belchertown, Mass.) was named the NECC Runner of the Week for women’s cross country after recording a season-best time of 33:33.62 to place 99th overall at the Western New England University Invitational. This is Lehouillier’s second NECC weekly honor of the season.

Senior goalkeeper Alexandra Bonavita (Agawam, Mass.) was named the NECC Player of the Week in field hockey following a 1-2 week that saw the Blazers’ net-minder notch 27 saves during the three-game span including 17 in a hard-fought, 1-0 loss to Framingham State University. Bonavita has now been named NECC Player of the Week for the second time this season.

Junior forward Adam O’Grady (Somers, Conn.) was named the NECC Player of the Week in men’s soccer following a four-goal effort in three games, including two goals each in a 3-2 win over Worcester State University and a 3-0 win over Mount Ida College. This is O’Grady’s first NECC weekly accolade of the season.

Freshman forward Marissa Yowell (Ashland, Mass.) was named NECC Rookie of the Week in women’s soccer after scoring three goals and assisting on two others in the second half of a 7-0 victory over Wheelock College. Yowell scored eight points in 20 minutes of second half action to highlight her second weekly honor of the season.
