Field Hockey Falls To Simmons, 7-0
CHICOPEE, MA – Elms College freshman
goalkeeper Alexandra Bonavita (Agawam, MA)
continued her impressive first-year campaign by tallying 15 more
saves, but it was Simmons College’s Katelyn Tighe
(Easton, MA) who got the ball rolling, scoring twice in
the first half, as the Sharks blanked the Blazers 7-0 in a
non-conference contest at Leary Field Tuesday night.
The loss drops the Blazers to 2-7 on the season, while Simmons
improves to 2-9 overall.
Simmons senior Emily Sypher (Orono, ME) was
involved in three of tonight’s goals, scoring two while
assisting Tighe’s second goal. Sharks’ sophomore
Lee Sutherland (Tuftonboro, NH) also netted a goal
and assisted Sypher’s first and junior Christine
Lowery (Wilder, VT). Sypher also assisted freshman
Marianna Brown (Newton, NH) in the opening
minutes.
Blazers’ freshman Jaclyn Medeiros (Brant Rock,
MA) and senior Tomie Lafond (Hatfield,
MA) made promising breaks up field and provided an
offensive spark in a losing effort.
Elms travels to Wheelock College in Boston Thursday, Oct. 8 for a
New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) clash scheduled to start
at 7 p.m.
