CHICOPEE, MA - Elms College junior forward Andrea Ramsdell (Gardner, MA) scored her first goal of the season and added an assist to help lift the Blazers to a 3-1 win over Bay Path in Tuesday evening’s New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) field hockey game at Leary Field.

With the win, Elms snaps a six-game losing skid to improve to 2-6 overall, 1-2 in NECC play, while Bay Path remains winless and falls to 0-7 on the season, 0-4 in league action.

Elms struck first when senior midfielder Kaitlyn Graham (Paxton, MA) drilled a shot from about 15 yards out to give the Blazers a 1-0 lead 17 minutes into the contest.

The Wildcats responded 1:12 later when Molly O’Brien-Moore (Springfield, MA) scored on a feed from Lindsie Lavin (Feeding Hills, MA) to even the score at 1-1.

From there, Ramsdell took over, controlling a loose ball off a save and firing in a goal past keeper Samantha Berrios (Manhattan, NY) at the 21:09 mark. Ramsdell then delivered a beautiful pass across the middle to senior forward Tomie Lafond (Hatfield, MA) who finished with her fourth scoring strike of the season, giving the Blazers a 3-1 lead 28 minutes into the match.

Lafond’s goal capped the scoring for the contest as the teams played a scoreless second half.

Freshman goalkeeper Alexandra Bonavita (Agawam, MA) was solid in net, batting away eight of the Wildcats’ 16 shots.

Ramsdell and senior midfielder Danielle Boyer (South Hadley, MA) registered four shots each to pace the Blazers’ offense.

Racquela Richard (Providence, RI) led the Bay Path offensive effort with five shots, while Berrios finished with four saves on the evening.

Elms returns to action on Saturday, Oct. 3 with an NECC road match against Wheelock. Game time is set for 1:00 p.m.
