LEICESTER, MA – Fourth-seeded Elms College
freshman goalkeeper Alexandra Bonavita (Agawam,
MA) saved 11 shots, but Victoria Sirchia (Goshen,
CT) paced No. 1 Becker College’s attack with a goal
and an assist to lift the Hawks to a 4-0 victory over the Blazers
in Tuesday evening’s New England Collegiate Conference (NECC)
Championship field hockey tournament semifinal contest at Alumni
Field.
With the loss, Elms concludes its 2009 campaign with a 3-14

Becker jumped out to an early lead when Nicole Lijana
(Moorestown, NJ) scored just 1:59 into the contest.
Sirchia put the Hawks up 2-0 right before the end of the first
period (33:37) when she broke through the Blazers’ defense
and finished with a scoring strike.
Sirchia then helped put the game out of reach when she tipped the
ball to Carly Barone (Attleboro, MA) who fired the
ball into the back of the net to extend the lead to 3-0 in the 50th
minute of play.
Kayla Messina (Somerville, MA) added the final
goal of the contest at the 55:31 mark, giving Becker a 4-0
lead.
