CHICOPEE, MA –
Elms College freshman goalkeeper Alexandra Bonavita (Agawam, MA) recorded eight saves, but Daniel Webster’s Maeghan Farrelly (Jamestown, RI) registered a pair of goals and added a defensive save to help lift the Eagles to a 4-0 victory over the Blazers in Saturday afternoon’s New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) field hockey game at Leary Field.

With the loss, Elms falls to 3-12 on the season, 2-6 in conference action, while Daniel Webster snaps its seven-game losing skid to improve to 6-7 overall, 4-4 in NECC play.

Twenty-one minutes into the contest, the Eagles struck for their first goal as Kyla Palaschak (East Bridgewater, MA) found the back of the net for her sixth goal of the season, giving Daniel Webster a 1-0 lead.

Daniel Webster found its scoring stride again at the 58:24 mark when Sara Twardowski (Buffalo, NY) capitalized on a feed from Samantha Bark (Belfast, ME), lifting the lead to 2-0. Four minutes later, Farrelly collected a pass from Sarah Steves (North Granville, NY) off a penalty corner situation and delivered for her first goal of the season.

Farrelly netted her second goal of the contest with just two minutes remaining in the game when Steves drove a pass off a penalty corner to Natalie Bates (North Kingstown, RI) who tipped it to Farrelly, allowing her to fire a shot into the far left corner of the net, giving the Eagles a commanding 4-0 advantage.

Daniel Webster outshot the Eagles 20-5 in the winning effort.

Elms closes out its regular season schedule with a 7:00 p.m. non-conference contest at Western New England College (WNEC) on Wednesday, Oct. 28.
