Bonavita, Corse And Pianki Earn NECC Weekly Honors
CHICOPEE, MA – Elms College had three
student-athletes from three different sports garner New England
Collegiate Conference (NECC) honors for the week of Oct. 5-12 as
announced by the league office on Monday.
For the second straight week, field hockey goalkeeper
Alexandra Bonavita (Agawam, MA) was honored with
the conference’s weekly accolade, this time as player of the
week. The first-year net-minder collected 31 saves during 210:00
minutes of play for the week. She allowed 10 goals in a 1-2 week
while facing 73 shots.
Freshman golfer Dave Pianki (West Suffield, CT)
was named NECC rookie of the week for the second time in as many
weeks, thanks to a round of 82 during this week’s Mitchell
tri-match, earning him individual medalist honors for the day.
Pianki carded rounds of 79 and 84 at the 2009 NECC Championships en
route to a share of eighth place overall and a spot on the All-NECC
second team.
Freshman women’s soccer goalkeeper Molly Corse
(Bernardston, MA) earned her second conference award, this
week’s rookie of the week, thanks to her two shutout
performances, helping the Blazers to a 1-0-1 week. Corse went
200:00 minutes of play with eight saves, while facing 21 shots. The
Blazers tied 0-0 in double overtime action against St. Joseph,
while defeating NECC rival Bay Path 3-0.
