POUGHKEEPSIE, NY – Elms College freshman goaltender Alexandra Bonavita (Agawam, MA) was sensational between the pipes, turning away 30 shots, but Vassar received a pair of goals from Jessica Lance (Enfield, CT) to help lift the Brewers to a 4-0 victory over the Blazers in Saturday afternoon’s non-conference field hockey contest.

With the loss, Elms College moves to 1-1 on the season while Vassar improves to 1-2 overall and advances to the championship game of the Betty Richey Tournament.

Elizabeth Annis (Princeton, NJ) found the back of the net on a flip from Madeline Rooney (Amherst, MA) to kickoff the scoring, before Lance scored on a breakaway down the middle, and then again unassisted to give the Brewers a 3-0 edge.

Jordan Friedmann (Chicago, IL) rounded out the afternoon’s scoring when she knocked a shot past Bonavita with just over a minute remaining in the contest.

Lance paced the Brewer offense with 16 shots.

Vassar out-shot the Blazers 45-0 in the game.

Elms College returns to Betty Richey Tournament action Sunday, Sept. 13 against Manhattanville College in the consolation game. The contest is slated for a 10:00 a.m. start.
