Men's Golf in Twelfth Place After Day One at Williams College Invitational

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. - Elms College senior Phil Rurak (Wilbraham, Mass.) and junior Henry Fall (Harpswell, Maine) each shot a team-low round of 79 and the Blazers combined for a score of 315 during day one action of the Williams College Invitational at Taconic Golf Club.

A different scoring system will be used for this tournament. Normally, teams count the best four of five rounds each day. This weekend, teams count the best four scores per hole out of five to get the overall team total. With this format, Williams' A team holds the overnight lead after shooting 292. The Ephs' B team is tied for second place with Babson College; they both posted a 298 total.

Individually, Babson's Wesley Tryhane is leading after his two-over par 73. Williams' Matt McCarron was one stroke behind him with 74. He shares second place with Hamilton College Greg Scott and Bowdoin College's Johnny Bohorquez.

Blazers' junior Tyler Cudnik (Hampden, Mass.) and sophomore Nick Smith (Enfield, Conn.) registered respective rounds of 82 and 84, and sophomore Alison Cowles (East Longmeadow, Mass.) shot a 92 on day one.

Second round action tees off on Sunday, September 23 at 8:00 a.m.
