Men's Golf Places Eighth in Day One of Duke Nelson Invitational

MIDDLEBURY, Vt. - Elms College junior Henry Fall (Harpswell, Maine) shot a team-low round of 75 and the Blazers combined for a score of 315 to finish in eighth place on day one of the Duke Nelson Invitational hosted by Middlebury College on Saturday afternoon.

Williams College (298) is sitting in first place, followed by Skidmore College (306) and Trinity College (309) to round out the top three in the 25-team field.

Williams' Ross Bowen was round one's individual medalist as he shot an even-par 71.

Fall shot 35 on the front nine and 40 on the back nine to score 75 and earn a share of ninth place overall. Sophomore Nick Smith (Enfield, Conn.) carded a 78, followed by scores of 81 from senior Phil Rurak (Wilbraham, Mass.) and junior Tyler Cudnik (Hampden, Mass.). Alison Cowles (East Longmeadow, Mass.) added a first round score of 93 to round out the Blazers' five golfers.

Elms returns to Duke Nelson Invitational action on Sunday, September 16 at 9:00 a.m.
