Men’s Golf Places Third at Hampton Inn Invitational

DARTMOUTH, Mass. – Elms College sophomore Henry Fall (Harpswell, Maine) and freshman Nicholas Smith (Enfield, Conn.) each carded day-two rounds of 79 as the Blazers tallied a team score of 329 to finish with a third-place overall score of 651 during the Hampton Inn Invitational hosted by UMass-Dartmouth.

Husson University won the team championship with a two-day score of 629, followed by Salem State University (631) in second place and Elms in third with a score of 651.

Salem State's Chris Berry finished eight over par for the 36 holes and earned individual medalist honors with a combined score of 152 for the two rounds including a low round of 75 on Sunday. Fall finished in a three-way tie for second place with a combined total of 156 (12 over par).

Junior Philip Rurak (Wilbraham, Mass.) carded a score of 82 on day two, and sophomore Tyler Cudnik (Hampden, Mass.) registered an 89 to round out the Blazers' scoring four. Sophomore Kyle Simard (Thorndike, Mass.) finished one stroke behind Cudnik with a round of 90.

Elms had three golfers place in the top 20 individually as Rurak finished tied for 13th overall, while Cudnik tied for 16th place during the two-day event.

Elms is back in action on Tuesday, April 17 when it travels to the Worcester State Invitational.
