Men’s Golf Finishes 10th in Day One of Williams College Invitational

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. – Elms College junior Philip Rurak (Wilbraham, Mass.) and sophomore Henry Fall (Harpswell, Maine) each shot six-over-par 77 to help the Blazers to a team to a day one score of 320 and a 10th place finish in Saturday afternoon's two-day, 15-team men's golf invitational host by Williams College at Taconic Golf Course.

Manhattanville College's William Tischler was Saturday's individual medalist (one-under-par 70), while Salem State University's Nick Zolotas and Chris Berry each finished even on the day to tie for second place.

Salem State and Manhattanville each carded team scores of 298 to finish with a share of first place, while host Williams finished in third with a score of 303. Middlebury College and Hamilton College came in fourth (306) followed by Western New England University (307), Trinity College (308), Babson College (314), Bowdoin College (315), Elms (320), New York University (322), Springfield College and Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts (MCLA) (324), Tufts University and Castleton State College (325), Amherst College (327), Worcester State University (347) and Wesleyan University (350).

Rurak and Fall finished tied for 22nd overall in the field of 97 golfers, while freshman Nicholas Smith (Enfield, Conn.) and Tyler Cudnik (Hampden, Mass.) carded rounds of 82 and 87 respectively. Junior David Pianki (West Suffield, Conn.) shot 91 to round out the Blazers' squad.  

Day two tee-time is set for 8:00 a.m. on Sunday, Sept. 25 at Taconic Golf Course.
