Men's Golf Finishes Duke Nelson Invitational in Tie for 11th Place

MIDDLEBURY, Vt. - Elms College sophomore Henry Fall (Harpswell, Maine) carded a two-over-par 73 and the Blazers knocked off 20 strokes from their day one score to finish in a tie for 11th place in Sunday afternoon's Duke Nelson men's golf invitational hosted by Middlebury College.

Skidmore College's Anthony Dilisio earned individual medalist honors on day two with a one-under-par 70 to help his squad capture overall team honors as Skidmore finished the event with a combined score of 588. Williams College finished in second (607), while Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) notched third place.

Springfield College (609) and host Middlebury (611) secured fourth and fifth places respectively, while Salem State University and Manhattanville College tied for sixth place. Trinity College (Conn.), St. Lawrence University, and Amherst College finished in eighth, nineth and 10th place with scores of 621, 622 and 624. Babson College tied with Elms for 11th with a score of 628.

Hamilton College (629), Western New England University (WNEU) (632), Clarkson University (639), Nichols College (644), Johnson & Wales (647), St. Michael's College (648), UMass-Dartmouth (651), Castleton State College (658), SUNY Potsdam (661), Tuffts University (669), Wesleyan University (694) and Worcester State University (787) round out the final 12 participants.

Blazers' sophomore Kyle Simard (Thorndike, Mass.) improved by 10 strokes from Saturday to post a 75, while junior Philip Rurak (Wilbraham, Mass.) registered a 76. Freshman Nicholas Smith (Enfield, Conn.) roudned out Elms' scoring contingent with a round of 80, while junior David Pianki (West Suffield, Mass.) turned in a score of 89.

Elms returns to action on Saturday, Sept. 24-25 when it travels to the Williams College Invitational beginning at 1:00 p.m.
