Men’s Golf Places Second at Nichols College Invitational
DUDLEY, Mass. – Elms College junior David Pianki (West Suffield, Conn.) shot a team-best 79 to help the Blazers earn a team score of 320 and finish second at the Nichols College Invitational at the par-72 Dudley Hill Golf Course on Monday afternoon.
Wentworth Institute of Technology registered a score of 315 to earn first place honors at the quad "B" match, led by Jose Armenteros (Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic) who shot a two-over-par 74. The Blazers finished in second with 320, while Suffolk University (332) and host Nichols (343) rounded out the four-team field.
The Leopards' Armenteros, Eric Anderson (Abington, Mass.) and Bryan Cohen (Caracas, Venezuela) were the top three finishers among the 20 players, while Pianki's 79 earned him a share of third with Cohen.
Elms' junior Daniel Costello (Brookfield, Conn.) and sophomore Tyler Cudnik (Hampden, Mass.) each shot rounds of 80, while freshman Nicholas Smith (Enfield, Conn.) turned in a round of 81 to secure the Blazers' scoring unit. Freshman Daniel Teague (Clinton, Conn.) saw his first collegiate action and scored a 112 on the day.
Elms returns to action on Saturday, Sept. 17 at the two-day Middlebury College Invitational beginning at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Sunday's action will begin at 9:00 a.m.
