Lehouillier, Smith Garner NECC Weekly Honors

ATTLEBORO, Mass. – Elms College freshman women’s cross country runner Rachel Lehouillier (Belchertown, Mass.) and freshman men’s golfer Nicholas Smith (Enfield, Conn.) garnered New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) honors for the week of Oct. 3-9 as announced by the league on Monday.

Lehouillier earned her third weekly honor of the season after powering to a team-best time of 22:36 in the women’s 5-kilometer race at the James Earley Invitational hosted by Westfield State University. Lehouillier finished 166 out of 354 runners and crossed the line ahead of all other NECC runners in the field.

Smith finished in a tie for fourth at the NECC men's golf championship with a two-day total of 150. His combined score included a day-one card of two-over-par 72, a collegiate career-best round. Smith was named First Team All-NECC and NECC Rookie of the Year after finishing first among the league's freshmen competitors. This is Smith’s second weekly accolade of the season.
