Rurak, Fall Help Men's Golf Cruise to Victory at MCLA Invitational

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. – Elms College junior Philip Rurak (Wilbraham, Mass.) and sophomore Henry Fall (Harpswell, Maine) each shot a one-over-par 72 to tie for individual medalist honors and help pace the Blazers to a winning score of 299 in Thursday afternoon's men's golf invitational hosted by Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts (MCLA) at Waubeeka Golf Links.

For the second time this season, Elms shot a program-best 299 for its 18-hole round, led by Rurak and Fall who each shot a 72. Host MCLA followed 23 strokes behind the Blazers with a 322, while Westfield State University's A team shot a 324 and its B team shot a 345 to place third and fourth respectively. SUNY Cobleskill notched a combined score of 364 to place fifth.

Rurak scored 38 on the front nine and followed with a 34 on the back nine, while Fall was 35 on the front and 37 on the back en route to their combined victory. Sophomore Tyler Cudnik (Hampden, Mass.) carded his collegiate personal best round of 75 and a third place overall finish, notching a 36 for the first nine holes and a 39 on the final nine, while junior Daniel Costello (Brookfield, Conn.) secured an 80 for the afternoon.

Sophomore Kyle Panek (Belchertown, Mass.) rounded out the Blazers' lineup at the invitational.

Elms is back in action beginning on Saturday, Sept. 24-25 when it travels to the Williams College Invitational. Tee time is set for 1:00 p.m. on Saturday and 9:00 a.m. on Sunday.
