Men’s Golf Places Fifth at Trinity College Invitational

HEBRON, Conn. – Elms College sophomore Henry Fall (Harpswell, Maine) shot a team-best 79 and the Blazers scored a 321 on day two to place fifth overall at the Trinity College Invitational at Tallwood and Blackledge Country Clubs on Sunday.

Host Trinity, which shot a 290 on Saturday, finished tournament play with a total score of 591 to capture first place team honors in the field of 11 teams. Manhattanville College posted a 294 on day one of the event and finished with a tally of 600 to earn second place honors. Amherst College and Western New England University registered scores of 611 and 617 to claim third and fourth place respectively, while Elms posted scores of 299 and 321 to finish with a two-day score of 620 to finish in fifth place.

Fall finished in a tie for third place individual honors, while Blazers' junior Philip Rurak (Wilbraham, Mass.) and freshman Nicholas Smith (Enfield, Conn.) each carded a round of 80. Sophomore Kyle Simard (Thorndike, Mass.) registered a round of 82.

Sophomore Tyler Cudnik (Hampden, Mass.) also posted a score of 82 on day two, while junior David Pianki (West Suffield, Mass.) secured a score of 85 to round out Elms' contingent in the opening invitational of the 2010-11 season.

Elms returns to the course on Monday, Sept. 12 when it travels to Nichols College for a 12:00 p.m. tee time.
