Men’s Golf Finishes Eighth After Day One at Johnson & Wales University Invitational

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Elms College freshman golfer Henry Fall (Harpswell, Maine) carded a team-low score of 76 and finished in a tie for third overall as the Blazers tallied a team score of 324 to place eight out of 19 teams in round one action at the Johnson & Wales University Spring Invitational in Providence, R.I.

The University of Massachusetts at Dartmouth earned a score of 311 and is in first place after day one followed by New York University and Salem State University who each totaled rounds of 314 to finish in a tie for second. Western New England College (WNEC) and Babson College scored 315 and 317 respectively to round out the top five teams. Husson University (318), Johnson & Wales (320), Elms (324), Nichols College (326), Rhode Island College (330), Worcester State University (333), Providence College (334), Endicott College (335), Suffolk University (337), Castleton State College (342), Wentworth Institute of Technology (349), Anna Maria College (352), University of Southern Maine (355) and Johnson & Wales' Blue squad (356) rounded out the field.

Salem State's Nick Zolotas was the individual medalist in round one carding a three-over-par 74 with 37s on both the front and back nines, while Johnson & Wales' Steve LeDonne placed second with a score of 75. Fall finished in a six-way tie for third place.

Senior Andrew Sullivan (West Springfield, Mass.) and freshman Kyle Simard (Thorndike, Mass.) totaled rounds of 82 each, while freshman Tyler Cudnik (Hampden, Mass.) shot an 84 to pace the Blazers' four scorers in Sunday's first round. Sophomore Phil Rurak (Wilbraham, Mass.) registered a score of 87 following day one action.

Elms returns to Johnson & Wales Spring Invitational action at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, April 18.
