Men's Golf Captures Program's First-Ever ECAC Championship

STOW, Mass. - Elms College freshman golfer Henry Fall (Harpswell, Maine) carded an even-par round of 72 on Sunday and finished with a 149 overall to help pace the Blazers to a 618 combined score and earn the 2010 Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Championship at Stow Acres Country Club in Stow, Mass.

Elms, which started second round action in fourth place, registered an impressive score of 304 on Sunday to garner the program's first-ever ECAC title. The Blazers finished two strokes ahead of Endicott College (620) and three strokes ahead of the third place team from Nichols College (621).

Husson University's Chris Hamel (Waterville, Maine) earned individual medalist honors for the two-day event, shooting par for the course on Saturday (72) followed by a stellar a three-over-par 75 on Sunday for a total score of 147. Fall and Endicott's Jack Wyman (Falmouth, Maine) each turned in rounds of 77 on Saturday and scores of 72 on Sunday en route to a tie for second place overall honors.

Blazers' sophomore Phil Rurak (Wilbraham, Mass.) carded a second round score of 78 to finish with a 156 overall and a tie for 10th place overall. Senior Andrew Sullivan (West Springfield, Mass.) totaled a 157 score for the two-day event thanks to a Sunday round of 77 while sophomore Anthony Roberts (Ludlow, Mass.) finished with his second consecutive 79 to turn in a combined score of 158. Kyle Simard (Thorndike, Mass.) finished just one stroke behind Roberts for the tournament registering a 79 on day two for a final score of 159 to round out Elms' five golfers.
