Men’s Golf Places 14th at Hampton Inn Spring Invitational

NORTH DARTMOUTH, Mass. – The Elms College men's golf team concludes play at the Hampton Inn Spring Invitational hosted by the University of Massachusetts at Dartmouth in 14th place after shooting a second round score of 338 at Allendale Country Club.

Salem State University finished the two-day event as the overall team champion with a combined score of 637, while Husson University came in second with a total score of 644. Host UMass-Dartmouth (647), Rhode Island College (653), and Babson College (654) rounded out the top five spots in the field of 18 teams. Amherst College (664), Johnson & Wales University (668), Tufts University (676), Nichols College (677), Western New England College (WNEC) (677), Castleton State College (686), UMass-Dartmouth (Gold) (690), Endicott College (695), Elms (697), Wentworth Institute of Technology (705), Springfield College (709), Worcester State University (714) and Suffolk University (716) placed 6-18 respectively following the two-day invitational.

Worcester State's Bob Bruso, Husson's Chris Hamel, Rhode Island's Tim Leigh and Salem State's Nick Zolotas each carded a two-day score of 155 to finish in a four-way tie for individual top honors.  

Elms' freshman Kyle Simard (Thorndike, Mass.) followed his tournament-opening round of 87 with a 79 on day two to finish with a combined score of 166, while senior Andrew Sullivan (West Springfield, Mass.) registered back-to-back scores of 83 to join Simard with a total score of 166 and place in a tie for 26th place overall.

Freshmen Tyler Cudnik (Hampden, Mass.) and Eddie Innarelli (Ludlow, Mass.) recorded rounds of 83 and 93 respectively to round out Elms' four scoring golfers.

Elms returns to action on Thursday, April 14 at Western New England College (WNEC). Tee-time is slated for 10:00 a.m.
