Fuller, Simard Garner NECC Weekly Accolades

ATTLEBORO, Mass. - Elms College freshman women's volleyball player Ashley Fuller (Amherst, Mass.) and freshman men's golfer Kyle Simard (Thorndike, Mass.) were each tabbed as the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Rookie of the Week in their respective sports as announced by the league office on Monday.

In three matches during the week, Fuller handed out 70 assists, averaging 6.36 helpers per set, served up 10 aces, notched nine digs and terminated eight balls. In the Blazers' 3-2 victory over Castleton State College, Fuller distributed 32 assists and scattered eight service aces to help Elms snap a nine-match losing skid. This is Fuller's first weekly honor of the season.

Simard carded a team-best round of 75 at the Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts (MCLA) quad match and finished in a tie for second place overall. Simard finished just five strokes behind the leader who shot a one-under-par 70 to capture individual medalist honors. This is Simard's first NECC weekly accolade of the season.
