Men’s Golf Finishes 5th Overall At NECC Championships

GROTON, CT – Elms College freshman golfer
Dan Costello (Brookfield, CT) led the Blazers with
a second round score of 79 to help lead the squad to a fifth place
overall finish with a combined score of 696 following
Sunday’s second round action at the New England Collegiate
Conference (NECC) Championships hosted by Mitchell College.
Babson finished in first place with a combined score of 609 for
both rounds, highlighted by top overall performer Bryan
Edger (Marion, MA) who carded rounds of 70 and 79 to
finish with an impressive 149.
Elms junior Andrew Sullivan (West Springfield,
MA) turned in rounds of 76 and 86 in the two-day event to
finish eighth overall with a total score of 162; freshman
Dave Pianki (West Suffield, MA) shot a 79 in the
opening round and closed out the championship with an 84 to place
in a tie for ninth overall. Costello finished just two strokes
behind Pianki with a 165 combined score to claim a share of 13th
place.
For their efforts, Sullivan and Pianki were named second team
All-NECC as both finished in the top 10 overall following the
two-day championship.
Sunday’s second round action concludes the men’s golf
fall season. Elms will return to action in the spring.
