FARMINGTON, CT – Elms College freshman
golfer Dan Costello (Brookfield, CT) led the
Blazers in round two action with a 76, lifting the squad to a 332
team score for the day in Eastern College Athletic Conference
(ECAC) Championship play at Tunxis Country Club.
Endicott College won the ECAC Championship after finishing with a
score of 609 in the two-day tournament. Pat Pio (Somers,
CT) of Nichols College shot two over par to win the
individual trophy.
The University of Massachusetts-Dartmouth earned the runner-up
trophy by finishing with a total team score of 615. Bobby
Newcomb (Quincy, MA) of Johnson & Wales earned the
individual runner-up trophy after recording a birdie on the playoff
hole against Nichols' Nick Deni (Enfield, CT) and
Endicott's Andrew LaRocque (Averill Park, NY).
Elms finished 12th out of 14 teams with a final score of 680 for
the two rounds.
Freshman Dave Pianki (West Suffield, MA) carded
an 81 in the second round and finished the championship with a
combined score of 158, good enough for a share of 18th place
overall.
Junior Andrew Sullivan’s (West Springfield,
MA) 82 and 78 gave him a 160 for the two-day event and
placed him in a four-way tie for 26th overall. Costello ended both
rounds with a 162 overall (86 and 76 respectively) and finished in
a tie for 33rd place.
