NORTH DARTMOUTH, Mass. – Elms College freshman golfer Dan Costello (Brookfield, Conn.) shot a round of 75 on day two to lead the Blazers to a first place finish out of 19 teams at the two-day 2010 Hampton Inn Classic hosted by UMass-Dartmouth.
Elms shot a combined 308 in Sunday's second round action to tally a total score of 626 for the two-day event and claim first place honors. Bentley College finished with a 645 and Trinity College notched a 646 to place second and third respectively. Husson came in fourth with a score of 648 while the host Corsairs rounded out the top five teams with a 654.
Costello earned third place individual honors in a field of 93 golfers following his rounds of 78 and 75 (153) during the weekend.
Freshman Philip Rurak (Wilbraham, Mass.) finished seventh overall carding a round of 79 on day two and registering a total score of 156, while classmate Anthony Roberts (Ludlow, Mass.) placed in a tie for eighth overall following a round of 77 en route to a final score 157.
Junior Andrew Sullivan (West Springfield, Mass.) shot a 77 during second round action to finish with a 160 for the tournament and placed in a tie for 12th as all four of Elms' scoring golfers placed in the top 25 overall.
Elms returns to action on Saturday, April 17 at the Sage College Invitational.
