Men’s Golf Finishes Second At Mitchell College Tri-Match With Becker
GROTON, CT – Elms College freshman golfer
David Pianki (West Suffield, MA) earned individual
medalist honors, while junior Andrew Sullivan (West
Springfield, MA) and freshman Dan Costello
(Brookfield, CT) finished in a tie for second place to
help guide the Blazers to a second place overall finish in
Wednesday afternoon’s men’s golf tri-match hosted by
Mitchell College at Shennecossett Golf Course.
Mitchell claimed team honors with a combined score of 353,
followed by Elms at 361. Becker College rounded out the tri-match
with a team score of 384.
Coming off a stellar two rounds at the ECAC Championships, Pianki
carded a round of 82 to secure his first place finish. The
first-year golfer battled tough wind conditions and shot a 42 on
the front nine and followed that with a 40 on the back nine.
Sullivan and Costello each turned in a score of 85 en route to a
tie for second place, while Mitchell’s John Peschetta
(Worcester, MA) turned in a team-best score of 86.
Elms freshman Kyle Panek (Belchertown, MA) who
had a break-through round two at the ECAC Championships (97),
rounded out the Blazers’ scoring with a 109 on the
afternoon.
Elms concludes its fall season at the New England Collegiate
Conference (NECC) Championships hosted by Mitchell on Saturday,
Oct. 10-11. Saturday’s championship will see an 8:00 a.m.
start, while Sunday will feature a 12:00 p.m. tee time.
