PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Elms College freshman golfer Philip Rurak (Wilbraham, Mass.) carded a round of 80 to finish in a tie for third overall and help the Blazers to a second place finish in Friday afternoon's men's golf invitational hosted by Rhode Island College.

Host Rhode Island garnered first place honors with a combined round of 326, while Elms finished six strokes behind the Anchormen with a score of 332. Tufts University placed third with a round of 338 while Worcester State College totaled a 350 on the day.

Worcester State's Bob Bruso (Auburn, Mass.) was one of two golfers to notch a score in the 70s, finishing with a low round of 76 to earn individual medalist honors. Rhode Island's Kyle Garcia (Rehoboth, Mass.) finished two strokes behind Bruso with a 78.

Rurak shot 40 on both the front and back nines to shoot 80 for the day, while junior David Pianki (West Suffield, Conn.) and freshman Anthony Roberts (Ludlow, Mass.) each registered a round of 83 to tie for seventh place.

Junior Andrew Sullivan (West Springfield, Mass.) rounded out the Blazers' scorers with an 86.

Elms will compete in its second to last invitational of the 2009-10 season on Wednesday, April 28 hosted by Franklin Pierce University.
