Men’s Golf Places Fourth at MCLA Invitational

Williamstown, MA- Westfield State College’s Brett Williamson placed first shooting a 76 helping the Owls to a score of 323 and the win at the Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts (MCLA) Invitational at Waubeeka Golf Links in Williamstown, MA onThursday.

Leading the Blazers on the course and shooting a 79 for third best round on the day was junior golfer Andrew Sullivan (West Springfield, MA). Freshmen Dan Costello (Brookfield, CT) and Dave Pianki (West Suffield, CT) shot rounds of 81 and 82, while classmate Kyle Panek (Belchertown, MA) recorded a 112 on the day.

The Blazers finished fourth of four teams with 354 total points, narrowly losing to SUNY Cobleskill with 348 points.

Host MCLA claimed second shooting a combined 333.

Dan Korpita of Westfield State finished second overall behind teammate Williamson shooting a 77, one stroke off the lead.

Elms next hosts its second Blazer Invitational of the season at Chicopee Country Club on Wednesday, Sept. 30 at 11:00 a.m.
