Men's Golf Wins Sodexo Gator Classic

RAVENA, N.Y. – Elms College freshman golfer Phil Rurak (Wilbraham, Mass.) shot a one-under-par 71 and earned individual medalist honors to help lift the Blazers to a first place finish at Saturday afternoon's Sodexo Gator Classic hosted by Sage College at Sycamore Country Club in Ravena, N.Y.

Elms combined to shoot 334 while Purchase College totaled a 382 on the day. Host Sage College amassed a 413 to come in third place.

Junior Dave Pianki (West Suffield, Conn.) shot a 79 to finish second for the Blazers. Freshman Dan Costello (Brookfield, Conn.) tallied an 88, while freshman Tavish Leland (Bridgton, Maine) was the final scorer for Elms with a round of 96.

Saturday's invitational win marks the second straight tournament victory for Elms.

The Blazers return to action on Tuesday, April 20 at the Worcester State College Invitational. Tee-off is set for 12:00 p.m.
