WORCESTER, Mass. – Elms College freshman golfer Philip Rurak (Wilbraham, Mass.) carded a round of 80 to help pace the Blazers to a tie for fourth place out of 16 teams at the Worcester State College Invitational on Tuesday afternoon.

Trinity College (Conn.) won the invitational notching a score of 298, Salem State College combined for a score of 308, and Brandeis University came in third with a score of 320. Western New England College (WNEC) and Elms each totaled scores of 324 to finish in a tie for fourth and round out the top five teams.

Dave Anderson of Trinity earned individual medalist honors with a staggering round of two-under-par 70 that included a 33 on the back nine to help seal the win. All four scoring Bantams finished 77 or better for the day.

Elms' junior golfers Andrew Sullivan (West Springfield, Mass.) and David Pianki (West Suffield, Conn.) each shot 81 on the day. Pianki shot a 38 on the front nine to tally the Blazers' lowest nine-hole score at the event.

Freshman golfer Anthony Roberts (Ludlow, Mass.) notched a 39 on the back nine and finished with an 82 for the round to complete Elms' scoring team of four.

Elms returns to action on Friday, April 23 at the Rhode Island College Invitational. Tee-off is slated for 11:30 a.m.
