Men's Golf Competes At ECAC Championship
FARMINGTON, CT – Elms College freshman
golfer Dave Pianki (West Suffield, CT) carded an
impressive opening round score of 77 to help lead the Blazers to a
348 team score in Saturday’s round one of the Eastern College
Athletic Conference (ECAC) Championship at Tunxis Plantation
Country Club.
Endicott College, Johnson & Wales University and University of
Massachusetts-Dartmouth each shot a 309 to finish in a three-way
tie for first place; while Bobby Newcomb (Quincy,
MA) of Johnson & Wales and Pat Pio (Somers,
CT) of Nichols shot for par (72) to finish on top of the
individual leader board after the first round.
Rain suspended play for three of the 14 teams in the opening
round.
Pianki shot a 39 on the front nine and followed that with a 38 on
the back nine to earn a share of eighth place overall. Senior
Andrew Sullivan (West Springfield, MA) tied for
21st overall with an 82, while freshman Dan Costello
(Brookfield, CT) earned an 86 in the opening round.
The Blazers return to the course for second round action on
Sunday, Oct. 4 at Tunxis Plantation Country Club.
