Bay Path College Sweeps by Women’s Volleyball, 3-0

CHICOPEE, Mass. – Elms College senior outside hitter Stacy Croteau (Agawam, Mass.) drilled a team-best 11 kills, but Bay Path College's Nadine Harkless (Westfield, Mass.) recorded a match-best 14 kills to help pace the Wildcats to a 3-0 (25-23, 25-14, 25-23) victory in Saturday afternoon's New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) women's volleyball match at Picknelly Arena.

With the loss, Elms concludes its season 9-17 overall, 2-6 in NECC action. Bay Path moves to 13-10 overall, 5-3 in conference action.

Trailing 2-0 in the contest and 21-15 in the third set, the Blazers rallied for eight straight points highlighted by a pair of service aces and a kill by Croteau and a pair of kills by junior outside hitter Christina Martin (Chicopee, Mass.) to give Elms a 23-21 lead. A kill and a service ace by Harkless halted the run and knotted the frame at 23-23 setting up a kill by Vanessa Chaplin (Attleboro, Mass.) and an ace by Harkless to cap a 4-0 Bay Path run and seal the sweep for the Wildcats.

Croteau finished with 11 kills, five service aces and 12 digs in the match, while Martin added eight kills and 12 digs in the losing effort.

Senior setter Jennifer Rego (Fall River, Mass.) dished out 21 assists and chipped in 11 digs, while freshman libero Caitlyn Larvey (Greenfield, Mass.) added 11 digs in the loss.

Harkless paved the way for Bay Path with 14 kills and eight digs in addition to notching two solo blocks.

Ashley Provost (Ludlow, Mass.) totaled a match-best 14 digs and a match-high 23 assists, while Allie Esquivel (Irving, Texas) contributed 12 digs. Chaplin and Kacie Bayreuther (East Lyme, Conn.) dug 10 balls each in the winning effort, while Bayreuther secured eight kills.
