Women’s Volleyball Falls to Southern Vermont College, 3-0

BENNINGTON, Vt. – Elms College senior outside hitter Stacy Croteau (Agawam, Mass.) downed seven kills and recorded 10 digs, but Southern Vermont College's Hershey Canta (Bataan, Philippines) dished out 24 assists to pace the Mountaineers to a 3-0 (25-10, 25-14, 25-13) victory over the Blazers in Tuesday evening's New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) women's volleyball match in Bennington, Vt.

With the loss, Elms falls to 8-13 overall, 1-3 in conference action, while Southern Vermont improves to 21-2 on the season, 3-0 in league action.

Croteau floored her team-leading seven kills on 20 swings with just two hitting errors (.250 hitting percentage) and served up three aces, while senior setter Jennifer Rego (Fall River, Mass.) notched 10 assists and five digs in the losing effort.

The Mountaineers were led by Danielle Healis (San Diego, Calif.) and Alicia Manzo (Clovis, Calif.) who struck for nine and eight kills respectively. Both finished with a .600 or better hitting percentage in the contest.

Canta added five service aces, while Joanna Hogue (Los Gatos, Calif.) registered a match-high 13 digs.

Elms returns to non-conference action on Thursday, Oct. 13 when it travels to North Adams, Mass. for a contest against Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts.
