Women's Volleyball Falls to Pine Manor College, 3-1

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Elms College senior outside hitter Stacy Croteau (Agawam, Mass.) downed a team-high 16 kills but Pine Manor College was able to stake a 3-1 (23-25, 25-21, 25-16, 25-19) victory over the Blazers in Monday evening's non-conference women's volleyball match in Chestnut Hill.

With the loss, Elms falls to 5-9 on the season, while Pine Manor remains unbeaten and improves to 8-0 overall.

Elms edged Pine Manor in the first set 25-23 before the Gators rallied to win three straight sets to remain unbeaton this season.

Pine Manor was led by Alie Johnston (Winnipeg MB, Canda) and Jen Gross (Coral Springs, Fla.) who downed 14 and 13 kills each, while Ashley Carusone (Nashua, N.H.) led the team with 19 digs.

In addition to smashing 16 kills, Croteau added eight digs and a service ace, while junior outside hitter Christina Martin (Chicopee, Mass.) finished with 10 kills and a team-best 13 digs. Martin also tallied a service ace, while senior setter Jennifer Rego (Fall River, Mass.) notched 10 digs in the losing effort.

Elms returns to non-conference action on Thursday, Sept. 29 when it hosts Mills College at 7:00 p.m. at Picknelly Arena.
