Setting The Scene: Elms enters Wednesday evening's New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) matchup with Mitchell having won three of its last five contests, but are currently in the midst of a two-match losing skid. The Mariners take the court having lost five of their last six matches.  

Scouting The Mariners: Mitchell outlasted Lesley University for a 3-2 victory on Oct. 15 to pick up its first league win of the season. The Mariners were led by Bianca Young's (Bridgeport, Conn.) 11 kills, while Gloria Charles (New Haven, Conn.) and Jaclyn Tempkins (Nashville, Tenn.) added seven kills each. Emily Stracuzzi (East Lyme, Conn.) dished out 19 assists, while Marie Connelly (Bronx, N.Y.) added 12 helpers in the winning effort. Young and Nicole Terni (Ledyard, Conn.) helped Mitchell to victory by downing five service aces each.

Scouting The Blazers: Elms enters the midweek tilt looking to end its two-match losing slide. The Blazers posted a 3-0 sweep of Becker College on Oct. 8 to earn its first conference victory of the season before completing the tri-match sweep by downing Albertus Magnus College, 3-2 in non-league action on the same day. Against the Hawks, junior outside hitter Christina Martin (Chicopee, Mass.) smashed 11 kills, while senior outside hitter Stacy Croteau (Agawam, Mass.) and sophomore middle hitter Rachel Cowan (Ellington, Conn.) added eight kills apiece.

Pink-Out Day: The Elms athletics department will host the second of its "pink-out" events during the month of October on Saturday, Oct. 22 to help promote breast cancer awareness. All money raised will then be donated directly to the Susan G. Komen Foundation. During Saturday's home events, fans are asked to help all teams involved in promoting the cause by wearing pink and donating a minimum of $1. Tee shirts will be available for $10.
